David M. Hetherington, CFA

David Hetherington has 25 years of experience in the investment management field. During his professional career he has worked as an equity analyst, portfolio manager, and a fixed income manager. As Managing Director of Fixed Income for NationsBank's Institutional Portfolio Management group, he was responsible for both fixed income and derivatives management. Prior to entering investment management, he was an economist for the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Mr. Hetherington received his degree in economics from Duke University in 1975. In addition to his excellent background in economics and virtually all aspects of the investment field, Mr. Hetherington has had a great deal of experience in helping candidates prepare for the CFA examinations. For the past 16 years, he has been teaching preparatory classes for the CFA exam as a lecturer and workshop leader with the Study Seminar for Financial Analysts at the University of Windsor. He also taught numerous classes in investments and economics throughout his career. With his many years of professional experience in economics, equity analysis, fixed income investments, and derivative instruments, Mr. Hetherington has the kind of broad-based practical knowledge required to understand the wide array of investment topics that comprise the CFA study program. And his years of teaching experience have given him the skills needed to convey this knowledge to candidates who are interested in preparing well for the CFA exam.
